97 Mazda MPV 4wd?

A co-worker saw a 97 MPV for sale that lists it being 4wd. Is this a longitudinally mounted engine, rear wheel drive van with a transfer case? Or is it transverse mounted, front wheel drive, with some sort of shaft to a rear diff? If it's rear wheel drive, does the transfer case have a LO Range?

Rear wheel drive, electronic shift transfer case, with a longitudinal engine. They were decent vehicles, but of that era, are bland and boxy. They are kinda weird because they are vans, and not SUV's. Same class as Chevy Astro/ Ford Aerostar but both of those were AWD if optioned, not selectable 4x4
