Sea Water Pump "Grease"

Looking at Mercury's recommended service intervals, I decided to change the sea water pump impellers on my Chaparral. According to the service guide, you should put "grease" on the impeller before putting it back into the housing. So I did an internet search for the right grease and found that there seems to be lots of different ideas on what to use. From dishwasher soap, vasaline, silicone to who knows what has been specified.

Does anyone know what Mercury recommends? There has to be something they are using on the production line that is proven.

The OEM service manual says to use soapy water.

Some types of grease and oil can/will damage the impeller.

I use soap . . . .because I didn't read the manual.
