I have a Volvo penta 5.0 go. Noticed oil in bilge. Dip stick does not have a trace of oil on it. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,.... Fill the oil to the full mark, 'n see just how low it is,... The dipstick only goes 'bout 1/2 way...

Look at the oil pan for Holes, 'n drips or leaks....

are ya a saltwater boater,..??

How much oil in bilge? Do you no where it came from? Did you try adding a quart, and see if it then shows on dip stick? When was the last time the oil was checked? Need alot more info, on history of boat.

What U have there is a CHEAP GM oil pan.
Volvo's been putting them on for YEARS!!!
Usually no fix, replacing is the only way to go.
My 32 Bayliner, with twins, my 28 Bayliner and a friends 27 all with Volvo's
New oil pans all of them

welcome to iBoats . . .

my suggestion is do not start the engine at this point.

new oil pan in your future, perhaps. Like the others have said fill it up and see where it is leaking for sure. The fix is labor intensive/expensive
