I have a continuing problem with my 71c, behind a Perkins 4-108. The rear seal leaks, even though I have replaced it several times. Also have had the fill/check plug pop out, and the breather leak some fluid (a tblspn). It has not been overfilled.

I wonder if it is running too hot. The engine runs at 195, and the trans cooler is shared with the engine oil cooler to coolant (not raw water).

It sure sounds like it is overfilled. You have pressure buildup and it is very unusual to get fluid out the vent without it flying around in the case. There is a possibility you have a leak in the cooler and coolant under pressure is entering you Velvet drive.
