exhaust flappers

i have an 87 omc cobra 5.7 and was wondering if there are any sort of flapper doors anywhere in the exhaust. when i blew out the exhaust pipe i noticed some water sloshing in as the boat rocked while we waited for a tow. i thought there was something there to prevent water from coming back in through the exhaust. if there is, does anyone have a diagram of it?

There are supposed to be flappers in the top of the Y pipe, unless the wore out or got burned out by an overheat at some point.

Exactly what exhaust pipe did you blow out, and how did it happen?
