I have a 1991 bayliner trophy 20' walk around. I just had what looks like an oil low light on my gauge cluster come on. I have a two stroke 200 hp mercury wich is a 1999. It's direct oil injection and I don't have owners manual and it's the light on the bottom of the 4 pic gauge cluster. Maybe oil pump? Plenty of oil in separate oil tank and engine hasn't acted up. Please all inquiries welcome. Is that even oil low indicator light?

How about the oil in the tank in the boat?

Similar problem with a 40hp.
The float in the oil tank was sticking to the Tank
Level Indicator tube when the oil level was low and the engine unused for several weeks.
Removed and drained the tank, flushed the tank with solvent, reassembled and have no problems since.

To troubleshoot your problem, remove the engine shroud, normally on the starboard side of the engine, just aft of the starter you will see a four wire harness. Trace two of the wires to the bottom of the oil tank. Pull apart either of the pin connects and the low oil light will go out (key on).

Mercury forum is where the question belongs.
