Hello,

I have just completed successfully the rehab of my faulty engine waterpump (re-sealing). I must thank all the forum members for their very useful advices. Thanks.
I need know to change the swhift interruptor switch that is brobken and this is is discontinued, I well then replace the whole shift plate assembly.
While my doing this I'm wondering if I should not perfrom a complete check on the whole shift mechanism as it is 30 years old now. I'm in particulat looking on any tips to do it. Should I need to fill grease in the cables running from the shift command to the engine ?
Any tips re shift cable maintenance are welcome
Have a good day

Welcome.

What were the symptoms that led you to a broken shift mechanism? Many times it is disconnected or actually a worn lower shift cable that is the actual problem.

Cables are NOT greaseable. If they get stiff or sloppy REPLACE ONLY.

I had problem finding the neutral position. Then I tested the switch and it doen't work anymore. What is the role of the lower switch cable ?

Thanks

Control boxes need love (grease) too. When you have it apart give it a good dose of white grease.
