I consider a commode the single most important luxury on any pleasure boat. It is comparable to a/c in an automobile for me. I have special medical issues that require this luxury. IBS. I am also modest and this necessary item needs to be concealed from plain view on board.

There are very few boats that a first time boat owner should own that have a head. Most of the boats that have an actual usable head are big enough for a newbie boater to get themselves into lots of trouble. Get some experience with smaller boats, and stay closer to shore/port-a-potty.

If it's that important to you, you should go for it.

Like someone else in another thread said, you need to get out to some boat dealerships and boat shows and look for a boat the best suits your needs. Take your camera and show us the ones you like.

There's a big difference in sitting behind a computer and playing the "what if?" game and going out and looking and seeing for yourself.

If you're planning on buying a boat within the next year or so you need to get out and start looking now.

No questions here...just something I have pondered for many years and wanted to share here. Some people seem to think this matter quite trivial and it is often overlooked in boat review publications. I have a case of Mother Nature calls me a lot.

Yes, that is why my first boat 11 years ago was a "headless" aluminum Lowe 14-footer and tiller control on a 25-horse Johnson. I used to boat on a long-but-narrow lake and there were always plenty of bushes and trees on shore in the boonies and this baby could be easily beached when nature called. I am now ready to graduate to something that is actually sporting a head and a steering wheel to boot so I can cruise bigger water. That tiller control dam_ near killed my back, neck and leg muscles.

No, the other thread was explicitly about cuddies with heads and their functionality and the Moderator apparently did not like the use of some language there so I used the most church-like term in the book, "commode", here. This thread is about the importance of heads on boats in general.

This is exactly why you need to get out and do real life research, find the boat that best suits your needs... we can't do that for you.

You obviously have special needs and you need to find your own boat that will satisfy these needs.

You're looking for a boat with an Enclosed Head and a Holding Tank that can be Pumped Out. Avoid Port-Potties. That should about cover it, and nobody needs to know why.

While you didn't actually ask a question, we carry a port-a-potty in our "changing room". You have lots of room for stuff like that on a pontoon. And ignore the previous post about not carrying port-a-potties.

The problem with toilet threads is they lead to toilet humor, we don't do that here. We're a bunch of fuddy duddies that can only deal with fish humor. This is a personal subject and you need to head out and personally figure it out. No more on this topic, okay John? Thanks.
