Help with ID of Evinrude

Hi folks,

I've been offered an old Evinrude for cheap to use for backup parts for my Johnson 90. I was told via phone (the motor is 200 miles away and I haven't seen it yet) that the model & serial number are:

90483-S
E01797

Do these numbers indicate the year, model, HP etc?

90483-S = First numbers are hp, 3rd number is year.

1964 90hp Evinrude.

Thanks Joe,

My Johnson 90 is a 1982....will there be much on the 1964 Evinrude 90 that is interchangeable?....starter, lower unit, carbs etc? The tip of the skeg on the Johnson is broken off about even with the outer edge of the prop and I was hoping to swap the LU with the good skeg.

very few if any parts will interchange their 2 differnt animals.for one the 64 is a non-thruhub pin drive lower as the 82 is the exact oppisite .try to find a 81 and up omc.

No, sorry. Completely different animal. Nothing will interchange.

would like to see a pic of damage but i will try without.you can get skeg guards or as long as the welder has something to work with their easly repaired.
