Re: Yamaha Outboard 2 stroke engine maintenance
You can Google "Yamaha outboard parts" or go on IBoats.net and click on outboard parts. Sounds as if you're not very sure about the history of this 60 hp 2 stroke. On any used motor, I would do the following:
Change the water pump impeller.
Drain the lower unit looking for milky grease or water.
Have the lower unit pressure and vacuum checked by an experienced marine mechanic.
Install new spark plugs.
Install new thermostat(s).
Install a new membrane in the fuel pump (rubber).
Install a new fuel filter element.
Check out the fuel line and bulb closely.
Other than having the lower unit checked out, the rest of these steps are not very expensive maintenance items to complete.
