Replacing my lower mount bracket...

Okay, so I'm new to the whole boating world, so please don't judge me too harshly if this question is 'silly'.

So I noticed that my lower mount bracket was missing the last time I took my boat out. I purchased a replacement for it, but now I see that there is a little bit of a gap between the bottom of the bracket and the top of the lower unit which will allow water to easily get in. Is this normal (which I believe it is...just paranoid) or am I missing another part?

This is a 2004 Mercury 2-stroke 25hp motor.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: Replacing my lower mount bracket...

Most motors will have a gap between the lower mount and the midsection that allowes movement as the lower mount will take any vibration or hit from other hassards it may encounter. Make sure you gert or got ALL the required parts needed to replace the mount. Do not run the motor without the mount as other damage will be done to the rest of the mounting brackets.

I'm pretty sure I got all the parts required (or at least all the parts the dealership said I needed).
Thanks for the information!!
