Are DP's faster than SP's?

Looking at a good deal on a used 280 DP lower. Heard Hole shot and handling on DP's is much better. How do they effect top speed? Is the 5% increase VP claims true with the right props?

Yes, to a point. Once you hit about 55 with a DP, you're done. Up to that point, the DP wins in all respects.

Go fast boats have single props . . . So there is your answer.

I would never own another non-duo prop drive after having the one I have. Only disadvantage is that if you hit something you may take out both props.

For the OP's boat, he would get much better performance across the board with a DPS lower.

A DP lower yes, but not a DPS lower. Wouldn't fit, completely different drive.

Sorry Don, you are correct. Habit, from an SX-A owner that wouldn't mind a DPS-A lower myself ;)
