I did testing with the old repaired cracked exhaust port plate and old replacement baffle and repacement cover ,I have the tourque specs, but I do not have the proper sequence for bolt tightening. can someone post a page showing the proper sequence? It can be from a 60 65 70 75 HP Possibly a 50 or 55HP mercury engine. First picture is my guessing game if i can,t find the proper order

If you don't get the exact answer you want, most plate torqueing patterns are the same. First you go through the pattern and just snug things up. Then you come back with moderate torque and on the third trip set to torque specs.

The patterns start at the center and are in the form of an X for the innermost 4 bolts. Then just expand your X to the next 4 etc. till you work your way out to the end of whatever you are torqueing.

One more thing is that the torque spec on the bolt is for the pressure you put on the surfaces to be mated, not on the twisting resistance of the bolt. So clean up your hardware and add some blue locktite which will give some lube to the torqueing process. Blue is for screws/bolts that will be removed at a later date and it's presence reduces the problem associated with alum corrosion actually making removal at a later date easier. But being a pressure activated adhesive, it will prevent the bolt from backing out.

I could not find an official order either, but here's the order I did it in, in 3 stages like described in previous post:

I started with the 1/4" bolts in the very center, because they are very tight in their bores (unlike the 5/16" bolts that all have a little "wiggle room") and I figure that'll center the plates nicely.
