Hey guys,
I have recently purchased a 115hp 1979 Merc Looks and goes great but on installing it on my boat I notice the guide block for the gear selector was broken in half... Now being diaspointed and wanting to see if the motor at least changed gears properly I used super superglue to reassemble the guide block and it appears strong but I do not see this as a permenant fix.
So.. I searched the www and found the part is quite inexpensive to buy being only around $6 AUD but the kicker was the freight from the US is about 50 bucks.... I looked around for an aussie online company and the only one that came up was iboats and after emailing them i was told that they do not carry this part :( they suggested I ask you guys where I might find one that has "reasonable" shipping. Any help greatly appreciated!!

Cheers guys

Is the broken part under the cowling or the plastic block that fits in the bottom of the midsection, where the gearcase bolts on?

Re: Part info for Australia

thanks max that is the part but it is used and potentially the same issue could occur I think its just a case of em getting brittle over the years. @ Chris its in the powerhead under the cover and literally where the forward controls connect to the engine. One for throttle the other for gears. A used one will do but ideally a site that sells the part new in aus with reasonable postage would be better.

cheers

I understand But a good used one is better than one thats been crazy glued. Here is one looks to be in decent shape http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/37896-Gui..._Parts_Accessories_Gear&hash=item43af9d93c8te 6 New in stock here check the shipping details there http://www.marineengine.com/newparts/part_search.php?part_num=MER37896&my_part_number=Y in stock here http://www.crowleymarine.com/parts/3051.cfm I have a Tracker dealer up the road being a 1979 they probably don,t stock it and it would have to be ordered on top of the dealer fee then the shipping internationally to AU. If thats what you want I can stop by get a price and get info on shipping and mail it to you in the lowest possible mailing fashion available. Me purchasing it from the links i sent would cost shipping to me then to you probably not much less and more hastle than it,s worth.
First-Class Mail? $10.01 Customs form Need the info
https://webapps.usps.com/customsforms/sender_recipient.jsp Called tracker they havent stocked it scince 09 sorry I tried

Max thats fantastic mate I really appreciate the effort, thats way more than I expected in terms of assistance. I guess its the second hand ones you suggested or I will just have to wear the shipping costs. Again I thank you for the time you have taken to help me out.
