I had a very wobbly raw water pump. Took it all apart and determined it was a slightly bent pulley. Ordered one (6.5" from michiganmotorz) that looked to be an exact fit. Installed everything yesterday and it lined up perfect...right holes, raised holes for the pump to seat on, center-line and everything. EXCEPT, it's for a 3/8" belt instead of 1/2". So, I'm running it but the belt is not flush on top. Should I run a 3/8 belt or send it back and buy a VP pulley. Can the 3/8 belt run low in the cam and power steering pulley?

Ya'll are such a great resource. I'm gaining confidence just going for it thanks to the advice here, albeit trial by fire:)

Thanks!!

It will wear grooves in the sides of your belt and need tightening often and not last as long with a 1/2 in. belt. You could try a 3/8 belt (it will need to be slightly shorter) as long as it doesn't bottom out in the 1/2 pulley.
