6hp johnson thermostat help please

Hi I am fittingt a new thermostat to a 1983 6hp johnson, does the spring go in befor the thermostat or does it sit at the front,I have ordered a manual but waiting for it to come over from USA ,I could go out today if I can fit it

Hi the thermostat goes into the cylinder head without the spring. The spring sits on the head of the thermostat at the back of the engine in the thermostat cap (housing). Have a good outing

What is your model number? Was going to send you a parts link but I can't find an 83 - 6HP Johnson. Best of luck. Rick.

my model numbe is:J6BACTA I have fitted the thermostat but cant go out her indoors needs the car and the wind is bad anyway for a 10ft infltable

I have ordered a 1984 manual because I cant get an 83 wounder why ?????
