Hi to all...I have posted here before about my Evinrudes (1968 18803M/1960 15032) I followed your advise and wound up keeping the 1960 Evinrude for spare parts and converted the 1968 from a long shaft to short shaft by harvesting the different length drive and gear shift linkage from the 1960. The only difference I could find was that the 1960 lower end did not have a length of stainless steel tube that surrounded the longer gear drive rod on the 1968 so I imagined I could leave it off since I removed the added 6" skirt to shorten the outdrive.
Since the 1968 has an electric starter and solenoid already, I thought of adding an ignition key but have no idea on how to wire it since I can not find any information on an 18hp evinrude with electric start. Could one of you please provide a diagram or drawing on how to do this and what size wire I need to use throughout.
