Early Jet Lower on Late Model Outboard?

I have an opportunity for a good price on a decent older welded aluminum Hewes with a good running 115 Merc Jet.
Will this lower fit a later outboard? I was thinking of buying the boat/motor and repowering later. Would like to keep a jet on it though.

Possibly, but probably not. Since you didn't say what the model year is for the Merc there is no way to know what years it may fit.

Google San Leandro jet drive. There in CA.
You need to know serial Number HP, Year, etc. before you call them. Nice guys. But NO 800 number.
They Do have a Good website Also.
Also there is number on the Jet, an alum plate on the pancake.?? just below grease zerk for bearing.
I think No. starts with U or V- xxx
