My 125 dies when I put it into a forward or reverse gear, acts like it's in a bind or a tow rope is wrapped up around the prop. I've checked the lower unit from top to bottom nothing seems to be wrong it all looks new inside. If I slam it into gear past the point of an idle to a higher RPM I can get the boat in motion and runs great. The motor starts & idles great. Is there anything else Im overlooking here?

is your idle at least 1100 when in neutral ? If not approx 1100 it will stall when you put it into gear. Needs to be 750-800 in gear

Possible???The idle is too low?(mitzyman)
Or the bearings in the lower are binding??
Any water,EVER in the lower?
Ever run it with out oil or low oil?
How do you fill it?

To test?Remove drive.Drain the oil.
Remove the pump. Then as it sets there, turn the prop and see if it drags?
It should turn easily either direction.
