Basic question....Where is the shift interrupt physically located. Boat shifts hard into gear, but once there runs fine.I assume this is my porblem, just bought the boat.

The shift interrupt switch does nothing going into gear, it's only used when coming out of gear.
If it's hard to move the shift lever into forward, it's probably the cable going from the shifter to the engine.
This should help you understand the system. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?p=1930449#post1930449
On the top/rear of the engine. You will see the shift plate and the shift cables attached to the plate. The shift interrupt is an electronic switch with contacts which open/close as the shift arm is moved.
