Hello Everyone,
I have a 1979 85hp V4 Johnson that the Lower unit locked up a couple of weeks ago. The drive shaft, bearing housing, and several other components were damaged. I am going to buy a used lower unit and have found two online I think will fit. One is a 1984 90 hp Johnson and the other is a 1985 140 hp Johnson. Would anyone know if these would work on my motor. I was reading on the internet and from what I understood, it said 1979 thru 1991 85Hp thur140Hp lower units were the same. Is this correct? Would any of those models between those date ranges and HP ranges be interchangeable. Just wanted to make sure before I make a long drive to look at them.
