i have a 1987 bayliner 1400, i have some rotting wood in a few places and was wondering how to repair it, the floor of the boat is in good shape and the transom is also in good shape. the areas where the wood is rotting is in the front on both sides where i guess is the deck for seating and also the base under where the seats go in the middle of the boat, pics are attached any help would be greatly appreciated....photo 1.jpgphoto 4.jpgphoto 2.jpgphoto 3.jpg

I'm going to move this to the Restoration and Hull repair forum, you will get much better results.

Re: 87 bayliner 1400, rotten wood question

I'm really sorry to tell you this but based on my experience of Bayliner build quality from this period I would suspect that if you have found rot in the bow, chances are it will be worse in the stern. I would check the stringers and transom very carefully and take core samples to see if the wood is dry. There is loads of excellent help in these forums if it turns out your boat needs more work than you expect. I hope it is just those patches you have found so far though!
