Hi everyone!

I recently acquired a 1956 Evinrude Sportwin 10HP model 10012 to power my rowing dory when the arms and legs get tired or I get lazy. I saw the motor pump plenty of water running in a barrel but when I took it out on the water for the first time nothing came out. I keep reading forums and looking for videos, and so far have had the lower unit off twice trying to fix the issue. The rubber impeller looks like new, and I'm not sure what else to check from here. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Drop the lower unit and attach a water hose to the water tube going up to the engine and see if you have a good water flow through the block.

I just tried again to confirm and water flows fine through the block and out the exhaust. I'm trying to attach some pictures of the impeller to see if anyone knows if everything looks okay. Does anyone know the proper procedure for installing the impeller for this motor? I can only assume I'm doing something wrong.image.jpg

Thanks everyone, this is the first outboard I've worked on and this forum has been a lot of help!

Always oil up the grommets good, when you re-install the lower unit. That helps prevent the grommets from collapsing into the impeller housing.
