My son and I were out fishing and we stopped, shut the engine off to fish, a little while later we started the engine and went back to the dock and I shut the engine off again...when I went to start it back up there was "NOTHING" you could turn the key to the start position and there was "NOTHING"...! just like the battery was disconnected...!?? I replaced the ignition switch and still there is "NOTHING"...!!! I cleaned the battery terminals and cables and reconnected them...still the same...!!!
Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be...???? I am really confused, it should be something really simple...but I can't figure it out...!!

Look for a blown fuse, under the cowl. It will be in an "in line" fuse holder. Can't say exactly where but they're pretty easy to spot.

Starter solenoid maybe. Try using jumper cables and a battery to put 12v right to the starter (bypass the solenoid). See if it will spin that way.

I have a 92 and had this problem its likely the neutral safety switch. What I did to remedy mine was put it in netrual went back to the engine and adjusted the cable so it was dead on center with the dot on the throttle. I havent had this issue since. It was just a hair forward. I fought that problem for awhile with new batteries and everything you could think of. I just happened to try that one day and it worked.
