Hi I am new to boating and bought my first boat at the starting of the summer. I have done a lot of work on the boat, replacing the transom, floor, dash, and pimping it out. it is a 85' 14ft aluminum Deep-V with a 66 merc 350 on it. was wanting to use the boat for a little tubing and fishing but the motor wont get it more then 20-25mph. my buddy said i may need to replace the prop to get it moving faster.

my question is, what prop would be best to get the most performance out of it? I have no knowledge of props to do with pitch, size or alum/stainless.

 any information would help

Re: merc 350 prop questions

Prop selection is done using a tachometer to determine that the motor is operating within it's proper rpm range.

You need to tell us what rpm the your is turning at full throttle, and what size prop is on there now; for example a 10.5X13. That means 10.5" diameter by a 13" pitch.

welcome,
If you read the stickys at the top of the prop forum and get us as much info from there as possible we'll get you going.
