I have a 1991 Yamaha 225 TLRP outboard, and took it out then noticed an oil slick in the water when i stopped. I put it right back on the trailer and went home to see what was wrong. I cleaned up the oil then put muffs on it and started it. I looked around and saw oil coming from the overflow tube on oil tank on motor. I shut it off then turned the key on and could here the oil pump was on. then looked at the tube and oil was coming out of it. This is a motor with precision blend and i can't figure out why the motor won't shut off. Tank is full of oil, can anyone give me a clue as to what the problem is, i would sure appreciate any help.

The float switch inside the engine oil tank is not telling the remote tank to stop pumping. Probably bad float switch.

okay Capt Ken that's what i thought. Now to see how much that is going to cost. I guess the cap and all need replaced. For now i will just disconnect it at the reservoir and plug it back in when the tank in engine compartment gets low. That should be ok i guess till i can get the float switch.

I looked for the part and never saw a float switch. I guess what i am needing is the OIL LEVEL GAUGE ASSY. It's the most expensive thing on there, that must be it. anyone know if that is what i am needing for sure before i throw down $200 for it.

You can check the switch with a ohm meter. There is three switches in the assembly. Off, on, alarm. I don't have my book with me so I can't remember which wire is which.
