Installing HB 597ci HD DI need help?

I recently purchased the 597ci HD DI, and ordered an extra transducer and quick connect bracket so I could mount a transducer to both the transom and the trolling motor. My question is where can I tie into a power source at the steering/instrument panel. The power cord is only 6' long. I've had a depth finder on the bow previous so I know how to wire that one. I can provide pictures if needed. I have a 1989 Stratos 279FS. Any help would be appreciated.

Just run a pair of 16 gauge wires from the fuse and ground block to withing 6' of the mounting point, and attach to the OE power cord.
