1.2 Evinrude Compression

Folks, I'm working on an 1990 Evinrude Jr. 1.2 HP for a friend. Compression shows what I think is low at around 40 pounds. Anyone out there tell me what a useable compression on this little motor should be? The cyl gasket looked questionable when I took the head off gasket and the motor has been setting for a while but the cylinder looks good. River Boy.

I would think it should be closer to 70, you might install a new head gasket and see if it comes up. If you can get it started, you might try a good decarb on it and then check the compression again.
