1967 evinrune v foursport 60, no spark

I think it is a magneto, but I,m not sure? it has a dist. cap with condenser and two sets of points. their is no spark. the wiring harness is disconnected but if i am correct it should still have spark?

You might start with a simple check first, clean and set the points to the proper spec.

Your motor 60573 is a 1965, not a '67. Makes a big difference. 1965 has a magneto, 1967 is battery ignition. Yes, a magneto shouold have spark with the harness disconnected, battery ignition will not.

points that are under dist. cap are dirty. they have white crap on them, what is the best way to clean them to see if this is the problem. i read on forum to use a match book is this right?

cleaned and check points and still no spark?

part # for new points 580260 ? and if so can I get them at napa
