The son of a friend of mine had a carburetor problem in his B&S mower. He took it apart and he of course could not fix it so they brought it to me. There is a little part that I cant tell where it goes and I am not even sure I know what it is. I cant find it in the diagram either or at least I cannot recognize it there. Here is the part:

Diagram and part list:

If anyone is familiar with this carburetor (it is a nikki) and can please help me out here. I can fit that part in a number of places but it dont seem right anywhere.
Thank!

It looks like the main jet, the needle should seat into it.

Part 117a the needle that rides on the float # 105 should seat into it.

That was my first guess but if I put it there it is loose and the float wont align with the pin float hinge.

I think, that it is almost a press in piece, when you look down the hole can you see a shoulder the o-ring would sit on?

That looks more like the main jet that is pressed up into the main well above where the float bowl retaining bolt screws in.

The parts picture you linked to shows the main as #'s 117 and 118 for higher altitudes.

That should be the main jet, part# 117A or 118A if its high altitude application. Part# 947A is a fuel solenoid, the pintle of the solenoid I believe goes into the jet.
Looking at the carb body it should be the center tube that goes into the fuel bowl and lines up with the pintle of the solenoid.

There is no shoulder. I checked in the light and use a paper clip and that inside wall is straight.

I tried that one, it the only place I have tried that makes sense but the problem is the bowl will not close. I will have to torque this a little more than what I am comfortable especially since it is not mine. I would feel better if someone had a clear picture of that part there. i would then torque it down. If no one in here knows a 100% that is what it goes I might have to end up going to a shop and see if they seen it before. After all it is almost $300.00 for that carb. I hate when people take things apart then give it to me but his dad is a real good friend of mine... If anyone has one of these carbs and feel compelled to check it out for me.... LOL!

How about posting a picture of the carb body.
Maybe you didn't seat the jet all the way?

It is seated all the way but reading the way it is supposed to work know I understand that it has to be torqued and should be fine.
