I just bought from Iboats.com a Mallory DVA meter and when it arrived it's a IES 350 in the Mallory box. Any reason why they are the same or have is this a mistake?

What I am confused about is how a Mallory Marine Product DVA meter with a unique model number and warranty information can end up being a IES 350 DVA meter with its own model number and warranty information.

Probably for the same reason that companies like Mercruiser and Volvo will buy Chevy 5.7L V8 engines directly from GM, but GM builds those engines specifically to the buyers specs. (such as marine cams and brass core plugs) then Merc and Volvo add other items to the engine and sell it as a Mercruiser 5.7, or a Volvo Penta 5.7 IO engine. All painted up in that companies colors and decals. You also get warranty work done by Merc and/or Volvo. You don't take them to your local Chevy dealer.

Mallory probably contracted IES to make the DVA to a certain spec. above and beyond what the IES meter was originally. Then it is sold and marketed by Mallory, and you send it to Mallory for warranty and repair.

That is just my guess, because Mallory does not go around telling everyone why they do things. I suppose you could call Mallory and IES and ask them to, they would probably know the "Why's" better than anyone here.

Is that a IES 350 you have ? Is it a analog or digital model ? Or you have received a ES 530 DVA analog model ?
