Just picked up a 1959 Elgin 14ft Runabout off craigslist for $100. has a Evenrude Lark IV 40hp on it. Overall in really good shape. Has had the transom reinforced, other than that looks mostly original. Engine runs and trailer has new tires and pulls nicely.

Was a farm pond boat for years, and has no title records, the state cannot find anything even with the registration numbers, its last registration was in 78, and the state has no records so cannot find or issue a title.

Anyhow, my issue is there is no HIN on this boat, just the motor serials. Anyone know where to find the HIN? I'm guessing it was on the transom and was removed and lost with the work done on it.

Any help identify the year and other info would be appreciated.

hi ... welcome to iboats !

nice boat !

the hin/id tag of the boat is found on the port aft side of the transom cap.

it will be an aluminium sticker or plate.
unfortunately, those tags sometimes wore off with age.

the boat looks to be a 65-67 age fiberglass hull...

many boats of that era were hull copies from another boat, so to nail down the exact manufacturer is going to be a real chore.

there is a site called fibergalssics.com that may be able to help with the identification of the hull, but they will more than likely tell you the same.

as with any older boat, the issue is in registering the boat.
some times it can be a real difficult thing to do.
