1987 Mercruiser I/O 5.7 Changing Engine Gauges

I am installing new Telflex gauges into my 1987 Wellcraft Elite 220, 5.7L I/O Mercruiser. Presently the guages aren't working, so I went out and bought Teleflex Red Line gauges. I do not have the installation instructions for the guages. My question is: Does anyone have the instructions they can email to me or where to find them? I went to Teleflex's site but the instructions is still "under construction." Thanks

Welcome to Iboats. Replace 1 gauge at a time verbatem as the original, 1 wire at a time. Destructions probably wouldn't help because I'm betting that you don't have the wiring diagram for the boat. Without knowing what wire goes where, installation instructions are useless. My turn to ask a question, you say the gauges don't work. Any of them? No? the new gauges won't work either. I can understand a gauge, maybe 2, but not all the gauge not to move just a little. Unless the boat has been outside, without a cover over it, for a long time, then I would understand. But, if that's not the case, you HAVE to find the problem with the gauges. If you are comfortable with the troubleshooting process, great, if not, take it to your friendly neighborhood boat mechanic.

Thanks! My girlfriend's father is/was a mechanic and he has the patience to chase the problems with the gauges. Ill know 100% tomorrow which ones work/don't when I get the boat into the water. Thanks Again!

Why would you put the boat in the water if everything isn't working??? That's crazy, check everything on the boat, fix it all, then go to the water.

I am also having problems with the wiring on my Mercruiser. several of the trouble switches dont work. does anyone know any website resources for wiring harnesses/diagrams for older mercruiser 470s? as well. i have made my own conversion kit for my 1987 mercruiser, would like to know what the orange wire is from the voltage regulator. any info would be appreciated, thanks.
