Hi folks, Just bought a 2001 boat with a Mercury 75HP ELPTO serial number 0T441163. The engine did alot of sitting and was running pretty rough and popping from exhaust. Sucked all the old fuel out which really didnt smell or look to bad. The lower carb was spilling fuel out of the overflow. Wasnt sure if I over primed it, but the primer bulb never felt more than "firmish" after about 6 squeezes. My last outboard, 3 squeezes and the bulb was hard. Pulled the carbs and started going through them. The bowls where pretty filthy. Bought OEM carb kit which to my surprise has metal tipped inlet valve. The inlet valves I took out where red viton tipped. Anybody know where in the world you can find an exact replacement? I have searched everywhere. The carbs are WME 2xk 84's. I'd really prefer to go back with the rubber tips because the seats in this carb are pressed in and do not come in the carb repair kit. The parts catalog says this is a 9595-1 inlet valve. Thanks in advance.

If it is a OEM kit they are usually rubber tipped with a molly coating that makes them look like a solid needle, take tip on top of fingernail and see if it won't bend with pressure

By God Faztbullet you are correct, it is soft. Thank you thank you. Even under a magnifing glass it sure looked like metal.
