Last time out boat planed fine, trolled for an hour, then could not get back on plane. Engine bogs down every time. Spark test yielded no spark in neutral for 2-3 cylinders (hdpi's set up this way), then put in gear at 1200 RPM, still no spark in 2-3 cylinders AND no spark in 5-6 cylinders. All ignition coils are to resistance spec and I can see that when cranking all coils fire. Checked resistance of all 6 Pulser Coils, all 330 ohms and to spec. Hooked up to YDS v1.33, scan results are everything is fine! Scan read ECU fine, no connection errors. I am thinking it is limited to either the Pulser Coil, Throttle Position Sensor or ECU. I am ordering the diagnostic cables to check these three components for peak voltage, but wanted to see if anyone here had any experience or thought reguarding this? The Throttle Position Sensor seems like a likely culprit for the 2-3 cylinders not firing when in gear, but paired with the 5-6 cylinders firing in neutral but shutting down at 1200 RPM, doesn't make sense since the Throttle Position Sensor has nothing to do with telling these two cylinders when to fire...
Also, fuel is fresh, always use STABIL Marine and 5u Filter, problem seems isolated to electrical issue. I also checked the main ground connection to the block, tight with no corrosion.
Does anyone have experience with a YDS scan that yielded an OK for a specific sensor, but in actuality, the sensor was bad (i.e., false positive for proper functionality)?
