Dear forum,
I got my Bayliner registered last week and had my first trip on the open immensity this weekend. Incredible feeling. The boat is old but very well refurbished.

One thing worries me. The engine is working very well, but when i accelerate, it does not increase rpm. I have to push the accelerarator 2-3 times back and forth quickly times quickly (as if i was pumping) to wake it up, and take speed. It then accelerates very well, and i can slowdown. If i don't do this, and just push the accelerator, it would accelerate with difficulties, and then stop. Would you have any clue where i should start my investigations?

have a good evening.

The serial number is A164701, from the web i found my engine would date back from 1985. I did not expect it to be that old, but i am impressed it works so well. Except from this story of acceleration, of course. Do you have any idea?

He was hinting that you should refurbish the carbs.

I would service carbs and fuel pump.Check throttle cable is advancing at engine. If you dont have a Mercury Service Manual, you should buy that first.
