From what I've been reading here, and thank you for all the great info in one place, it sounds like my cables may be worn? But confirmation would be Sweet! Otherwise what else can I do? Maybe an adjustment is in order? I have most interior removed and will have it all out soon enough and can hopefully watch what's happening. Any info would help! Thanks!

Well I honestly feel like I shifted it normal, not briskly, but not slow either... if that makes sense?

No hesitation. If your idle is set properly, and you shift it in one swift motion BRISKLY as metioned before, it should just clunk softly into gear. If it sounds like its ratcheting it is possible you are engaging to slowly.
