I'm mounting a step ladder to the transom so the kids can get in from the water when tubing and wakeboarding. Will JB Weld Waterweld or the permatex general purpose be the best to put at the end of each hole before I tighten the nuts and bolts down? I'm going to Wally world so something they have would be preferable. Thanks!!

Wally World sells Attwood 7200 marine sealant, which is cheap version of 5200. Home Depot and/or Lowes sells 3M 5200.

Make sure you have some paint thinner to clean up the residual sealant, that and some paper towels cut into small 3"x3" pieces (lightly soaked in paint thinner). Use a piece of paper towel one swipe then throw it away, this will keep you from tracking sealant all over the place.

Geez guys. What if he ever wants to take the ladder off? The 5200 would make that kind of difficult, wouldn't it? The ladder is above the waterline so why wouldn't the products he suggests work?
