well....I have read that this lower unit is not supposed to have 90 wt in it, Boat is bayliner capri 1750 with VP-270 sn# 27107282. It was serviced by the local dealer 2 years ago and not used much after that. I bought it and had a cooling problem....took the lower unit apart and it DOES HAVE 90 wt in it.
did some of the 270s use 90wt?
Thanks
Rick

Nope, 270's use engine oil. If someone converted the lower unit to a DP, then you would use gear lube, but if you have a single prop, you use engine oil. Straight 30W is best.
