I have a 16' bow rider with a 50 h.p. force o.b. I'll be using the trolling motor mainly in the lake, however, I do fish the river which connects with the lake. I will bow mount the trolling motor. Also, do these motors have an "auto pilot" and if so, should I spend the extra greenbacks on it? As pointed out, I should buy the highest lb. thrust and longest shaft that I can get. Do I use a 12 or 24 volt system? I'm not the smartest cookie in the jar, so thanks to all of you that have given me valuable info in the past.

Re: Trolling motor

I assume you mean Bow RIDER.

A lot more info than "16ft" will be needed.

Make, Model, Weight, Engine?

Trolling for an hour or a week between charges?

River, Lake, Ocean?

Re: Trolling motor

Get the biggest you can afford with the longest shaft. You never know when you need the thrust or length....BTDT

Re: Trolling motor

I wouldn't go any less than a 55 lb. thrust, you'll be happy with a 55 or larger.
