Default Exposed laminate in old fg fishing boat - Gluvit ??

Hi All,I have an old fg fishing boat I'm working on as a project. The boat has always been trailered and wasn't leaking when I got it, but it has numerous gouges thru the gel coat exposing the laminate. This boat is not worth replacing gelcoat, etc, and I don't care what the boat looks like, so I just want to seal the areas where the laminate is exposed. The boat has been dry in the garage for two months now, and there are no blisters. To seal the exposed areas I was thinking of doing a rough sanding, rubbing the area with acetone, and then applying Gluvit.I'd appreciate any comments and/or other ideas. This boat is not for show and won't ever be left in the water longer than a day or so.Many thanks, Marty

Marine Tex putty would be my choice. Don't have any experience with Gluvit.

never used 'glue-vit' .. but i hear it's the 'shiz-nit'.. but i think its too thin for your needs.. marine tex is the ticket.. but could cost a small fortune the amount you may need.. get some 'thin' encapsulating epoxy an some fillers at your marine center.. get silica, micro ballons, an milled fiberglass .. mix in to already mixed up 'poxy .. mix in 50 %, 25 & 25 % respectively.. to a peanutbutter paste... garrenteed the best cottonpickin' fixin' around..,, bar-none...mix small amounts at first..

Gluvit is indeed too thin.. It's more of a "paint like" concistency.... Gluvit would be a good coating for after the repairs, but it would have to be painted to protect it from UV rays...

Sounds like a great solution! Many thanks for all the info. Hopefully all materials would be available at a West Marine Center?
