i inherited a 1966 Bertram Mopie and I want to do a restoration. Motor is a no brain er but can i salvage the out drive. It has a chevy 230 in it now what would be the best option to replace it. the baby blue is really faded can it be brought back, i would hate to paint it. It was my grandfathers and it sat for 40 years.

Lots of pics would help,is it gel coat? If it's really faded, chalky,it could possibly be brought back with the proper wet sanding & buffing.

I moved this to the boat topics forum for a reason. Mostly you asked way too many different types of questions for just one forum. If you have questions about the drive, put that information in the proper IO forum. The faded paint should be in the restoration forum. So post some pictures and figure out where each question should be in.

The Moppie is a very desirable hull and will return your investment in restoration or at least a good portion of it. DON'T do a schlock job! Take your time and do it correctly using period colors and upholstery. Try at all costs to salvage the engine so everything matches.

I worked for Bertram for a time in 65-66. Everything that Bertram built was of the highest quality even the stuuf below decks. You have a gem.
