I have used this motor 3 times now and it seems quite dependable as far as starting and running... just not really getting a fast/full power feeling from it. As far as I know there is no "kill switch" wiring in the tiller... but I felt a distinct shock from the metal screw at the end of the tiller handle while decelerating out on the lake. Any ideas where to start looking for a short that might be robbing some performance?

Thanks!!!

its possible one of your spark plug wires is touching the cowling and shorting.also the plug cap may have a crack and be doing the same.

Exactly where I would look. Old plug wires can have small cracks in them and at certain points in the throttle travel they may contact, or be close enough to arc to, something that can make YOU the ground...

If that checks out that, check the wiring under the flywheel to make sure nothing is rubbing against the flywheel or grounding against the mag plate.
