Hi I have a pontoon boat with a bigfoot 60 ELPT. I noticed a cble going to the front of the lower unit, looks like the top of the cavitation plate? What is this for? Mine looks damged like it was caught up in the tilt mechanism. I am sure its under warranty but seems like a dangerous spot to put a cable and or wire.

It's not a cable. It's a small diameter hose that runs from a small hole in the front of the lower unit to your speedometer. It allows the speedometer to "sense" the water pressure and translates it into an approximate boat speed.

If yours is mangled then there is a good chance your speedo no longer functions.

Thanks, I had thought that but it sure feels like it has wires in it. Maybe some type of reinforcement.
Funny thing is my boat doen't have a speedo!
Anyway the dealer says he would fix it, may as well just plug it.
