1983 4.5 Hp Seahorse after shutting down keeps on leaking gas mixture from the air intake and from the couple pinholes in the lower part of the drive shaft where the motor gunk is supposed to escape..Can this be related to a faulty (old used out) carburetor float? I am getting a new carburetor rebuilt kit and a new float assuming it will fix the problem.

Rebuilding the carb should fix your trouble. The inlet needle and seat might have to be replaced if they will not seat welland shut the gas off from comming into the carb bowl. Might just be varnish build up and cleaning will take care of that.

That should do it, if it is leaking gas when it isn't running it is more than likely the float valve not sealing.

It did not do it. Now I am playing with the float adjustment.
