1985 90 HP Merc tilt cyl

I have a 1985 mercury 90 hp , serial # A176026 . The tilt raises fine but wont hold it slowly drifts down. The trim works fine
this is the type B system two trim cyl and one tilt cyl . I have checked the fluid level I think ,does this system only have one tank for both
the tilt and trim ? Any help will be appreciated

This tip (I learned it from reading this forum) helped my motor that does the same. Did not completely fix it but helped plus it's easy to do and free.

Raise up motor all the way. Then loosen the manual release valve. Watch motor slowly lower a bit then close the valve. Motor stops. Repeat the process till the motor is all the way down.

I think it flushes some fluid through the release valve making it a little more compliant.

The cylinders need resealed , if you have no other apparent system leaks.

No leaks, so is there a website i can go to for instructions on how to reseal cylinder
