I have a 2001 Mastercraft X-9, with a 310 hp indimar motor. It has 119 hours on it. I just bought this boat 2 months ago and it is my first inboard. I was out on the water today, and shortly after staring out. I noticed smoke in the back of the boat (i think it was coming from the lower transform?). I also noticed that I was running very hot (210 to 220). I shut it off and heard a pop. I let it cool off for a while and slowly started idling back to shore, stopping every once in awhile to let it cool off. Once out I noticed that I had black soot around one of the exhaust? in the back of the boat. I will be taking this in on Tuesday, but any help from fellow boaters with more knowledge than me is requested. It is distressful not knowing if it is the impeller or what. Also if anyone does have knowledge about this, I would be curious of what to expect to pay to fix this. Thank you for looking and hopefully helping.

dhawk52

Re: please Help

I hope the Smoke was not the rubber parts in your exaust system burning from low water flow :(

Generaly speaking in the future ONCE you start overheating Its best to get a tow and NOT nurse it home as it can only make a bad thing worse

tommays

Re: please Help

Thanks for the reply tommays,
I think the rubber parts on one of them may have been damaged. It was very sunny out, but it looked like there was something wrong in one of them. any more help would be appreciated.
