I have a 73, 65 hp Evinrude that runs great at idle and at full throttle but if you ease it through the mid range it runs rough until almost full throttle, then it smooths out and runs great. A friend suggested new reeds but on this model they come as an assembly and are pricey. I would like to be pretty sure before ordering them. Does anyone have any experience with this problem?

If it were mine, I would overhaul the carbs.

I have cleaned the carbs a few times, making sure everything is clear and the carbs are sync'd. I put in new seats and float pins, I have not replaced the jets, thinking they probably aren't bad because they are fixed, not adjustable. I could easily be mistaken on that. It has new coil packs and new fuel pump.
