I recently purchased an 87 Sea Ray 21 foot runabout. Engine runs great and the oat is fun. I had the throttle body and cables replaced last summer when I first purchased it. This summer when taking it out the drive will kick out of gear and produce a loud ticking noise. When cycling the throttle back and forth we can get it back in gear. the problem shows after we are hot and about an hour or so into sports like skiing.

The problem seems to be getting worse. We check the linkage from the throttle arm to the top of the motor and we are tight. Made a few turns on the turnbuckle both ways and it didnt seem to change.

I dont have the manuals and am wondering if there is another transmission cable I am missing?
Anyone have experience with this? thanks, tony
