I just picked up my first Chris Craft off the local craigslist and I am needing a little help
It was a project that was never finished (I think we all know how those are lol )
I am missing a few trim pieces (the little wood trim) does anyone know where I can find these ?
Any help locating parts or any tips would be greatly appreciated
This is my first boat resto

The way it is now

Welcome to iboats.

Did you know you are a carpenter!!!! You will probably have to make the missing pieces on your own or have them made. Parts for an older boat are rare so it is a DIY world.

Since you are i that deep you NEED to investigate for wet foam, rotted wood stringers and transom too. Inspect the motor and bellows!!!

You have work ahead but well work it!

Yea I can do some "wood work" looks like I will need to further my skills in that lol
I did not do the floor the story I got was ......
The previuos owner bought it a couple years ago supposedly with a new floor already installed
last summer his foot went threw this new floor and according to him some one had laid new wood
on top of the old water logged rotted wood (I think we all know how that worked out lol)
So he removed it all and went back with 3/4 treated plywood and repainted to hull bought new carpet to match.

The floor does seem real solid needs a bit more work (liquid nail to stop the squeaks) and some sanding to smooth the edges out.

I guess I will have to fall back on those old house framing skills to help me out on this one haha

Re: 1984 Chris Craft Scorpion 210 Resto

The only drawback to the PO's story would lie in the details of the stringers and transom. If he had a rotted floor and didn't go so far as to replace those then he's (and ultimately you of course) not much better off than he was before, other than the newer floor is probably "prettier", lol. Speaking from experience here. I had a boat with a very similar story and the "squeeking" was due to no firm contact in that the stringers were mush. I believe you better research taking core samples of the transom and the stringers before you do anything else. You wouldn't be the first person to invest a lot of time and money to find out they still had an unsafe vessel. Good luck and keep us posted!

Sorry for the long delay ..
Did some digging on the boat found the stringer and transom are in good shape
Besides finishing the floor, interior and the tired 305 I believe I have a decent platform

Far as the engine I do have a fresh built 408 I could drop in with a marine cam swap (just have to be easy on take off's )

When it was in the street car I was going to build (Current setup makes 540hp @flywheel) Cam swap will more than likely drop it a bit

Welcome aboard the dry dock, Steve35

Click on the IMG tag of the pics or vids you want to post and they'll come up like this...

When you post up vids, you can just click on the image and it'll take you to the vid...

BTW, what do you mean you did some digging around?

Did you actually take core samples of the stringers and transom?

That and the foam I could get to in the rear
I think the PO is full of it on his story I believe this is the very first floor to go in the boat
Part of the floor in the rear of the boat is still original and solid.
